Pelabuhan Linau direncanakan akan dikembangkan menjadi pelabuhan ekspor-impor sebagaimana tertuang rencana tata ruang wilayah Kabupaten Kaur tahun 2006-2025. Rencana pengembangan tersebut didasarkan atas potensi sumberdaya Kaur dan daerah-daerah sekitar dalam memanfaatkan Pelabuhan Linau.
Linau akan tetap berstatus sebagai pelabuhan umum, namun akan mengakomodir pembangunan dermaga untuk kepentingan khusus.

WHAT LINAU IS?

Linau is a harbour located in Kaur Regency, Bengkulu Province, Indonesia. The harbour played important roles for local economy untill 2000, especially when the mainland roads have not been developed. At that times, Linau became the main outlet and inlet for people and goods at the southern parts of Bengkulu Province. Timbers are the major commodities transported from Linau.
Transportation activities in Linau ended by 2001 due to a lack of timber production as well as the improvement of mainland road access. However, the governments of Kaur Regency and of Bengkulu Province have initiated the development of the harbor by studying feasibility, master plan and detail engineering design.
Based on the above studies, Linau will be developed as exporting-importing harbor since 2010. The main commodities that will be transported via Linau are coal, crude palm oil, sand stones, coffee and rubbers. In the main time, Linau will also function as an inlet for various goods to distributed to Kaur and neighnouring regencies such as South Bengkulu, Enggano Island, West Lampung and South OKU.
